Kirchner's Trial Resumes Over 'Cuadernos' Corruption Case

Today, Tuesday, the Federal Oral Court 7 (TOF 7) resumes the 'Cuadernos' trial with a key change to the schedule: the addition of one more weekly hearing. According to the Argentine News Agency, the resumption of the trial, which will remain virtual, will focus on the reading of the indictment, which explains the criminal gear that operated between 2003 and 2015. The Prosecution's Accusation The accusation against the former president is that she was the head of a criminal organization dedicated to the collection of illegal funds. Federal prosecutor Carlos Stornelli argues that there was a 'money-raising system' where public officials and entrepreneurs obtained reciprocal benefits: officials received money and guaranteed their permanence, while the private sector received promises and concrete benefits in contracts with the National Public Administration. The December Schedule The Tribunal, composed by judges Méndez Signori, Canero, and Castelli, will continue reading the accusation of the 'mother cause' until December 2nd. Subsequently, on Thursday, December 4th, the reading of the connected file, known as 'la Camarita', will begin. The confessions of collaborating defendants like Carlos Wagner (former president of the Construction Chamber) and José López made it possible to uncover the cartelization of public works and the payments ranging from 10 to 30 percent. Furthermore, she is attributed 204 passive bribery offenses (receiving bribes), representing a sum of over 10,400,000 dollars. The request for elevation, whose text will continue to be read today, states: 'From its inception, the investigation focused on the formation of a criminal organization made up of the highest spheres of the Argentine Republic.'
